Kuselan audio released

Rajinikanth to donate Rs.15 lakh to film workers
He lays bare the secret of his youthful looks

Star gathering: Rajinikanth, K. Balachander, A.R. Rahman, G.V. Prakash Kumar and P. Vasu at the audio launch of 'Kuchelan' in Chennai on Monday.

CHENNAI: Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday said he would donate Rs.15 lakh to the film workers whenever his film was released.

Speaking at the audio release of his much awaited movie "Kuchelan", produced by Pushpa Kandasamy and Vijayakumar for Kavithalaya and Seven Arts and directed by P. Vasu, he said he owed his name and fame to his mentor K. Balachander. Vasu being an all-rounder, he took care of different departments in a meticulous way and so, everything went on well with the film, Rajinikanth said.

Referring to the ubiquitous question that everyone poses about his youthful looks, the superstar said that after 40 years, one must try to avoid all the 'white" things in food such as sugar, salt, rice, milk and curd. "With these, one must always have positive thinking and good words. "If everything is positive, one would not look old at all", he remarked.

The audio was released by K.Balachander and the first CD was received by A.R. Rahman, which was then handed over to G. V. Prakash Kumar, music director of 'Veyil.'

In keeping with the theme of the film, that is, friendship, top personalities handed over the film's CD to their respective best friends.

Rajinikanth gave the CD to his best friend Murali, Balachander to Bharathiraja, P. Vasu to Leo Christopher, Prakash Kumar to P.Vijay (director of "Kreedam") and Jagapathi Babu, who is doing the Telugu version "Kathanayakudu, " to his friend actor Arjun. G. V. Prakash Kumar said that he himself was a fan of Rajinikanth. "After the blessings of K. Balachander, I started my work. My guru and uncle A. R. Rahman is there with me always".

G.V. Prakash's exclusive interview

Just hours before the biggest moment of his life, the audio launch of the superstar Rajinikanth starrer 'Kuselan', G.V. Prakash in an exclusive interview to Indiaglitz, spoke about the excitement factor and his experiences working for this highly anticipated movie.

Here are excerpts from the interview….

How did 'Kuselan' happen?

Got a call from P. Vasu’s office and was told about Rajini sir’s next project. I took the car and dashed to his house immediately.

What went through your mind about composing for the superstar?

I am a huge fan of the superstar. Thoughts of musical composition engulfed my mind that night itself and I started composing. As a big fan of Rajini sir, I wanted to appease the fan in me first. I guess that worked big time.

Your experiences working with P. Vasu?

P. Vasu gave me enough space so that I would feel comfortable. He actually had an amazing team and I felt happy and thrilled working for 'Kuselan'. Working with that terrific team made me come up with a good performance. P. Vasu was wonderful and I thank him for giving me this opportunity.

Your thoughts on composing a song for celebrating 75 years of Tamil Cinema at such a young age….

I am happy with the result of 'Cinema….Cinema'. I have been previledged to do this song. Not only is it celebrating 75 years of Tamil Cinema, but also is the introduction song of the superstar. So I had to amalgamate his style in the song too. As I said, I am happy with the result and I am sure it will a huge treat for Rajini fans.

Rajini sir called me over the phone and congratulated me. We spoke for 25 minutes and am thrilled with the outcome.

Which is the song closest to your heart?

I like 'Cinema….Cinema', 'O Zaarare' but the closest to my heart is a song called 'Sollamma'. My friends love 'Cinema….Cinema'. They kept pestering me to play it all the time. 'O Zaarare' has also come out very good. In fact I asked Daler Mehndi to sing for two days. I was very particular to get the perfection right.

What about K. Balachander? Did he like it too?

I started out with the project only after getting his blessings. He hasn't spoken to me yet about the songs but I am sure he'll talk to me about his impression soon.

Would 'Kuselan' put you under pressure for forthcoming films?

No way. I am sure after 'Kuselan' my market precense will increase a lot. I have a very good line of impressive films that have scope for the musical element in a big way. I have director Selvaraghavan's film on hand and then 'Anandha Thandavam'. I have the next film of the 'Polladhavan' director and then 'Angadi Theru'. I am looking forward to working in these films.

How will your celebrate the success of 'Kuselan'?

Well, hangout with friends, attend all the phone calls and generally be happy.

Big music's veneration to Rajinikanth

IndiaGlitz [Monday, June 30, 2008]

‘Kuselan’ is superstar Rajinikanth's 156th film and BIG MUSIC has come out with a big plan to celebrate the superstar's achievement.

Minutes before the audio launch for ‘Kuselan’ is slated to happen at the Le Royal Meridien in Chennai, BIG MUSIC will have Rajinikanth release 160 balloons as an imagery to "Kuselan Songs' taking the skies with a mission to soothe and entertain. The songs are not only going to be released in CD format but also will be ON AIR thanks to all the FM stations. The balloons taking to the skies is also a visual imagery to the 'Kuselan' sound waves taking the air.

The 156 balloons would also be symbolic of all his films with which he had set many a heart thrilled to raptures with his flamboyant style and acting skills.

The whole 'Kuselan' team would be present at the launch which is expected to be scintillating and savvy.

A dozen Kollywood stars taking part in Kuselan

Kuselan audio to be launched today

By Moviebuzz | Monday, 30 June , 2008, 09:17

Producers Kavithalayaa and Seven Arts Films and Big Music the audio company are going to have a very big audio launch of Rajnikanth's Kuselan. The function would take place at a five-star hotel in Chennai on Monday (June 30) evening.

The entire star cast of the film- Rajnikanth, Nayanthara, Meena, Pasupathi and Vadivel are expected to attend the function, along with P.Vasu the director and other technicians. The film's music director G.V Prakash Kumar will be honoured as his uncle the legend A.R Rahman, will be the chief guest of the evening.

Kuselan audio has been grabbed by Big Music, after a bidding war. The grapevine has it that the price paid is a whopping Rs 2.25 crore, the highest ever price paid for an audio in Tamil.

Big Music is opening the audio sales with a record 2 lakhs CD's and Cassettes, priced at Rs 99 and 45 respectively. They have already got an order for 1.15 units from dealers across the world.

The music downloads too have been snapped by UTV, for a never before price. The songs from the film will also be premiered simultaneously across all the FM stations in Tamilnadu and other Tamil stations across the world on Tuesday morning.

There are five songs in the film. "Cinema, Cinema…" written by Vaali and sung by Shankar Mahadevan and chorus is Rajini's introduction song in the film. The song is said to have been picturised to celebrate 75 years of south Indian cinema, with more than a dozen Kollywood stars taking part in it.

The other major highlight is the Daler Mehndi song along with Chitra and Sadhana Sargam, "Om Zaarare…" written by Vaali. It is a seven – minute song where Rajini and Nayanthara appear as Egyptian King and Queen (for a film within a film), and shot lavishly on a studio set done by Thotta Tharani. It has all the potential to be a chartbuster.

If the audio of the film clicks, G.V Prakash the prince in waiting will be anointed as the King of Kollywood. Prakash is in a position to piggy back ride on Rajinikanth's popularity across the globe.

Hindu Paper Ad on Kuselan Audio release

Kuselan tracks gold

28 Jun 2008, 0025 hrs IST, Sreedhar Pillai,TNN

The Real KUSELAN: Rajinikanth
Rajinikanth has once again proved that he is the real superstar of Kollywood.

The audio of Kuselan has been sold for a whopping Rs 2.25 crore by its producers to Big Music. It is the highest price ever paid for a Tamil film by an audio company.

The official audio launch will take place on Monday at a suburban five-star hotel in Chennai. Rajinikanth and the rest of the Kuselan team including Nayanthara, Pasupathy, Vadivel, Meena, director P Vasu, producer K Balachandar and music director G V Prakash will attend the function. The buzz is that the chief guest at the function will be Prakash's uncle and mentor A R Rahman.

The mere name Rajinikanth, spells magic not only at the box-office but also in sale of audios. The audio company is coming out with two lakhs CD's (Rs 99) and cassettes (Rs 45) of the film, which will be on sale from July 1 morning in all music outlets worldwide. Says a beaming Umesh Pai, General Manager South, Big Music, "Never before in the history of Tamil audio has two lakh CD's and cassettes been available in the market on the opening day. There is already an order for 1.15 units from the dealers. We are expecting it to beat all sales records once the film is released. The company is also reported to be spending another Rs 30 lakhs towards promotions and merchandising of the album. In addition to that, the digital downloads of the songs in the film has been sold by the audio company.

The previous highest selling audio according to industry estimates was Rajnikanth's Sivaji, which had music by A R Rahman and is reported to have sold nearly 4 lakh CD's and cassettes.

How is it possible for an audio of a Tamil film to get such a high price at a time when the audio industry is in doldrums and there is rampant piracy? "Just the name attached to the label, Rajinikanth is the selling point of the album.

G V Prakash's last album sold for Rs 20 lakhs, today the market for a film's audio rights depends very much on the hero of the film," says an audio industry spokesman.

The producers of Kuselan, Kavithalayaa and Seven Arts Films are marketing it as a full fledged Rajinikanth extravaganza. At the movie launch, the superstar said that he appears in 25 percent of the film however, director P Vasu claims that Rajinikanth, who is doing a special appearance has one-hour of screen time of the film's approximately 2 hours 40 minutes running time. Kuselan is a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Katha Parayumbol.

The superstar will feature in three of the five songs in the film. His introduction song Cinema, Cinema, sung by Shankar Mahadevan will feature more than a dozen Kollywood stars who will join the superstar in celebrating 75 years of the South Indian film industry. Another highlight is the seven-minute song Om Zaarare sung by Daler Mehendi, Chitra and Sadhana Sargam and features Rajinikanth and Nayanthara. Pasupathy and Meena, the hero and heroine of the film, seem to be sidelined and will feature in one song and briefly appear in another.

IndiaGlitz [Friday, June 27, 2008]

Rajinikanth has been adjudged one of the top 50 powerful men in the country by '4 Ps', a business and marketing fortnight magazine.

The survey was conducted using various methodologies by ICMR (The Indian council for Marketing Research) and the 4Ps team.

Rajinikanth was chosen based on his visibility in the media over the last year, leadership qualities displayed and positive actions taken by actor.

Apart from Rajini, music genius A R Rahman has also managed a place for himself in the elite list.

Ash gets the highest ever salary for Robot!

By Moviebuzz | Thursday, 26 June , 2008, 17:56

Aishwarya Rai is very much a part of Shankar’s Rajinikanth dream project Robot, being produced by Ayngaran International.

Sources close to the deal said that last week the actress finally signed on the dotted line.

She was reportedly paid a whopping advance amount for the film.

Aishwarya is rumoured to be getting Rs 6 Crore to be the heroine of Robot. This is said to be the highest ever salary paid to an actress for an Indian film.

She has agreed to give bulk dates for the film as and when required.

As per original plans, Shankar was supposed to start the film in the first week of June. Due to various hitches, the shooting of the film will start now only in the last week of August after a low key ‘pooja’ in Chennai.

The dates have now become very convenient for Ash. She had kept the entire month of July and August for the Bachchan’s “Unforgettable World Tour”, a series of shows across continents organised by Wizcraft and starring the Bachchans (Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya) along with a host of stars.

After Aishwarya finishes her world tour, it will be time to start Robot. As of now Shankar is said to be planning to start the shoot with a song to be picturised across the world. So Ash once again goes around the world with the one and only superstar!

Rajini Fans should Thank Kamal - Confused?

Friends,

I'm sure my subject line will be perplexing to most of you. But,
don't be surprised because we, Rajini fans, are indebted to actor
Kamal, who is taking revenge on behalf of all of us against a
person, who insulted a Thalaivar's movie.

None of us would have forgotten how Mr. P.S.Saminathan, MD of
Pyramid Saimeera Group, in a function to commemorate another Tamil
movie Mozhi, has spoken in a very demeaning fashion about the way
other commercial movies are running successfully. Instead of
heaping praises and laurels on a well-made movie like Mozhi, this
gentleman spoke very badly about the successful running of Sivaji
even forgetting that his own company has been distributing the very
same movie in some of the territories of TN & reaping crores of
rupees as profits too.

At that time, our forum also sent protest letters to this person &
subsequently his office sent a clarificatory/ apology statement. If
this person & his company had any courage of their convictions, they
would have refrained from doing business in, according to them, run-
of-the-mill masala movies. But, on the contrary, these shameless
people have gone all out to bid fiercely & bagged the wholesale
distribution rights of Thalaivar's Kuselan/Kathanayuku du recently.

this act of theirs proves director Ameer's rhetoric "Pizhakkavum
Rajini - Pazhikkavum Rajiniya?". Whenever they want money in their
kitty, they need Thalaivar & his movies. But, it is also the same
Thalaivar & his movies, who are their favourite bunny to beat around
with, whenever they want to pose to the world as saviours of Tamil
cinema. What kind of hypocrytes are they?

But, Friends, everything has to come to an end one day & even if
legal courses are not available or not resorted to, like in this
case, there is something called Nartural Justice, which comes into
play to even out matters & put people in their rightful places.

Through sheer coincidence comes the latest news that Thalaivar's
contemporary & his professional competitor, Kamal, will be doing his
next project called Marma Yogi (MY) a.k.a. Marudanayagam, if latest
reports are to be believed, on a first copy basis and it is Pyramid
Saimeera who will be producing the same by investing anywhere
between Rs. 100 to Rs. 120 crores.

It is reported that Kamal himself will do the story, screenplay,
dialogues & direction of MY, which will have ARR as the music
director. It is also announced that the story happens in the 6th
century A.D.

I, as a Rajini fan, thank Kamal for coming to the aid of Rajini fans
by taking revenge on Pyramid Saimeera like this.

As the career track record of Kamal proves, in almost all the
projects in which he handled all the above departments, particularly
direction, the producers had to eat the humble pie & if some of
them are financially surviving even today, it is due to some
miracle. Moreover, as the project cost increases, the chances of
recovering it also dimishes, making it that much more difficult for
the film to become a hit or superhit or blockbuster. If the movie
happens to be an experimental one or a difficult to understand kind
without any commercial elements added to it, the majority of the
audience may not like it. All these are normal traits one can
attach to Kamal, the director/story- teller/screen play writer and
hence the chances of MY financially surviving are extremely dim.
Added to this is the choice of ARR as its MD. Except Lagaan, none
of the historicals in which ARR was associated with as the MD, has
clicked at the BO.

So, all this does not augur well for Pyramid, who have jumped into
the MY project at the eleventh hour, replacing the Hollywood Studio
Walt Disney, who were originally supposed to be producing this
movie. Thus, in all likelihood, Kamal is going to drain out Pyramid
Saimeera group to the tune of Rs. 120 crores in the next couple of
years and the recovery of that sum is a BIG question mark due to the
above-stated reasons.

So, is it not fair to thank Kamal for this act, which is akin to
taking indirect revenge on Pyramid Saimeera, by draining them of Rs.
120 crores & making its recovery a Billion Dollar (or is it Rupee)
Question?

With Luv,

Arun

Dasavatharam – International market oscillates!

By Behindwoods News Bureau.

June 25, 2008

While Kamal’s ten-role extravaganza is registering packed houses all over India, the international market presents a rather mixed response. Last week saw Dasavatharam tumbling and falling from its 12th position to a worrisome 19th position at the UK box office although with marginal effect on the collections. The movie collected $426,770

during its second as opposed to Sivaji that collected $546,738 in its second week at the UK box office.

Another interesting fact to be noted is that Dasavatharam is released in 8 more than theatres than Sivaji. Analysts predict Dasavatharam to fetch $700000 in total while Sivaji garnered $800000 during its run.

While this is the status of UK box office, its Malaysian counterpart does not present a rosy picture either. The weekend has registered a collection of $1,208,007 while Sivaji garnered $1,471,454 during the same period. Malaysian trade experts aver that it would be a Herculean task for Dasavatharam to reach $ 2.5 million that Sivaji garnered during its run. To add to the woes, the Will Smith starrer Hancock is also releasing this weekend that is sure to dampen the collections.

Robot photo session

The news on ‘Robot’ that came out last week saying that the shooting of the movie was started was partially true. There was a shoot but it was not for the film. It was just the extravagant photo session featuring Rajini and Rajini alone.

Different kinds of wigs, brought from the US, were fixed to the superstar for the session and the visuals are said to be awesome. Though the high profile heroine Aishwarya Rai Bachan did not attend the photo session, director Shankar has planned to have a second photo session featuring the lead pair.
Meanwhile ‘Action King’ Arjun has denied the news that he had told that he was not in ‘Robot’.

Though the action hero hasn’t confirm his participation, he hasn’t denied it either.

Rajini's Fever Grips Heroine

Superstar Rajinikanth is one man who is known for his mind blowing record breaking blockbusters on screen. Off the screen, he is one man who has been known for his magnanimity when it comes to charity, affection towards people and a humble approach towards everything in life.

Now, his charm is said to be spreading around and has been influencing many of those who spend time with Rajini and predominant among them happen to be his heroines who always have few very important lessons to carry after Rajini comes into contact with them. The list also includes many members of the cast starting from the light boys to the producer himself.

A name among the smitten ladies is that of the hot beauty Nayantara who has worked with him in three films including the upcoming 'Kathanayakudu'. Recently, she was heard saying that it was Rajini who had imbibed the sense of generosity in her and off late, whenever she sees someone begging her heart goes out for those poor people. She tends to give whatever her hand gets on inside her purse and gives it away without a second thought.

Superstar, Vadivel to Rock - A comedy Treat

Everybody's talking about Superstar's special appearance and how it has een extended to suit the star's image by director P.Vasu,in kuselan. But a little known fact is that comedian Vadivel's role too has been given more screen space than the character in the original which which was in malayalam. A scene has been added to show a very humourous on-screen confrontation between superstar, who plays himself in the film, and vadivel, who plays a modern barber.

After chandramukhi, the rajini-vadivel comedy scene became very popular with the masses. In Kuselan too, there is this Tom & Jerry kind of comedy track between the two, which is sure to bring the house down, says P.Vasu, who is still laughing about it.

A comedy bonanza awaits us.

Dasavatharam presses panic button - reason is Kuselan

Dasa team presses panic button by releasing more stills and information.

Its not only Dasa team which has pressed panic button. Individuals
who are part of Dasa team have also pressed the panic button.

Ex-Oscar has announced about his next movie with Jackie Chan (?).
They found it very difficult to even get Chan for 24 hours to India
for the audio function. I'm seriously doubtful about these claims
as I feel it will be a red-herring for the distributors and theatre
owners, who are feeling the heat after the mixed response Dasa got.
May be Ex-Oscar wants to keep them happy by dangling a future carrot
that he will be producing a movie with Jackie Chan so that they can
look forward to distributing/ exhibiting them.

Another is the announcement of his next movie by the "other actor".
Whats the great urgency in announcing the next project now itself by
both these people? Unless the movie is not doing well & they want
to placate the distribtuion partners, there is no need to announce
it in a promotional event organised for Dasa.

Let us see some of the events in a chronological order:

June 13 - Dasa release

June 16 - Times Now reports that Dasa's collections have dropped
inspite of the excellant opening it had

June 16 - Ex-Oscar announces next project with Jackie Chan

June 17 - Kamal announces his next two projects in a Dasa promotion
event in Hyd.

June 18 - P.Vasu meets the press on Kuselan & releases Kuselan stills

June 19/20 - Dasa team releases fresh stills of the movie (to
counter the heat of Kuselan stills?)

June 21 - Kamal's next movie Marmayogi is slated to be launched on
July 13 in Mumbai, as per Sify

June 30 - The date Kuselan audio will be released announces P.Vasu

July 25 - The date Kuselan movie will be released announces P.Vasu

If you go thru the dates carefully, you will know the REASONS for
the above reactions & actions of the competitor and his camp.

All their new/sudden announcements have been in response to the
dynamic market situation which forces them to respond the way they
have done. But, if a mere release of Kuselan stills can make them
to press panic button, I don't know what will happen to their movie
when the Kuselan audio releases and subsequently, if there is a
trailer release & ultimately the release of Kuselan - the movie -
itself.

One thing is for sure - Dasa won't be running when Kuselan is
released.

With Luv,

Arun

Superstar in Comics - Whats next?

SuperStar Rajinikanth in comics
June 21, 2008

The superstar’s fame is reaching sky high. He was on T-shirts (in U.S., it is a rage to wear T-shirts with depicting Rajni after a pop artist started this trend few years ago; it is catching up again now), footage related to his film were featured in foreign films (French film Prête-moi Ta Main), so many film personalities acted as his fans in their films, and so many heroes declared they are his fans and modelling their lives after him. It is needless to mention his fanfare throughout the world. Soon, he will be in COMICS!

Yes! This is the idea of a Chennai-based artiste Gaman, who heads a publication company called Krea Comics. Earlier, Gaman conceptualised a project and created some designs and illustration based on Sivaji’s Rajinikanth and discussed this idea with the producers of Sivaji, but the project did not take off. Now, he has created another prototype of his project and is in touch with the makers of Robot. Pretty soon, the results will be out. And it looks like this time, it is going to be a positive result.

So, pretty soon, we will get to see our superstar in comic books. This is a very rare and incredible achievement for any star. Though films are bigger than comic books and video games, an actor’s fame is considered to have reached its highest point if he or she is featured in a comic book or a video game or a cartoon. It shows their iconic status. In the West, only the likes of Arnold Schwarzenneger and Bruce Willis have achieved it. In Asia, Jackie Chan had been featured in a cartoon called “The adventures of Jackie Chan”. In India, Neetu Chandra (she acts alongside Madhavan in Yavarum Nalam) is featured in a 3D mobile game which is a tremendous achievement by her.

Kuselan coming Dasa's days are numbered

Friends,

All of you would have known by now that Kuselan is slated to be
released around 25th July, 2008. This has been announced by the
director, P.Vasu, himself in a press conference yesterday in
Chennai. He has also mentioned that, in the event of some delay due
to CG work, etc. it may get postponed by another week.

There is a report in a website that Kuselan will be released with
1,200 prints worldwide, inclduing both the Tamil & Telugu versions.
The stills of both Kuselan & Kathanayukudu (its Teleugu version's
name) released by P.Vasu has created a Tsunami of sorts in the net-
world. Thalaivar looks really smashing & debonair in all stills.
Added to fans' joy is the news that Thalaivar has 3 songs (out of 5)
in the movie, out of which 1 song will be his INTRO SONG. P.Vasu
has also confirmed that, in SundarJi's words, INCH BY INCH, THERE
WILL BE PUNCH dialogues in Kuselan for Thalaivar. P.Vasu was
categorically saying that no fan of Superstar will come out
disappointed after watching the movie because he has taken the movie
keeping in mind that Super Star's image is the BIGGEST SELLING
POINT. Hence, he has added all commercial elements like songs,
fights, style, punch dialogues, comedy, etc. without spoiling the
core of the story which will attract all people due to its heart-
touching elements. Vadivelu's comdy is also expected to be a
highlight with him appearing for around 30 minutes.

The songs of Kuselan will be released on 30th June in Chennai. Vasu
has compliemented MD G.V.Prakash for an excellant work done by him.
Superstar also seemed to have congratulated GVP & remarked that he
has kept the ARR family's music tradition well in tact. So, let us
all expect some fantastic songs, in typical Superstar Style, from PV-
GVP combine and lets resolve to make the songs of Kuselan beat even
Sivaji's audio sales record.

Now that Kuselan news and stills have started creating havoc among
net users & news channells, our competitor's movie Dasa, which was
expected to be a competitor to Sivaji, will be facing really tough
questions from the trade. Other than the initial opening it got due
to induced hype created by Ex-Oscar, already news is trickling down
about how the initial momentum has fallen and has given way to
reduced footfalls in all theatres screening Dasa. Times Now has
been reporting about how Dasa has suddenly lost momentum since last
week-end. Other websites have also started mentioning about this
fact, but in a very nuanced way, may be not to hurt Kamal & ex-
Oscar, who would have given the media people generous gifts to
promote his movie.

More than anything else, the WORD-OF-MOUTH IS KILLING DASA. Yes
Friends. When a person who has seen the movie tells his friends,
relatives & his other acquaintances that the movie is not worth
seeing & make-up is a goof-up, etc., many neutral people who would
have at least seen it once for the sake of watching the novelty(?)
of 10 roles of Kamal, would have decided against it & would now be
thinking about watching it in their home with a CD.

As a nailing in the coffin of Dasa has come the news now that
Kuselan is slated to be released on July 25th and with 1,200 prints
worldwide. This one announcement will make Dasa R.I.P. because all
those theatres who screened Dasa expecting huge profits but burnt
their fingers or have not seen the expected profits, would like to
cash in on KUSELAN MANIA which is going to engulf TN, nay, India,
nay nay, The Planet Earth, from June 30, 2008. So, they would have
told the Dasa producers & distributors, if there is such a tribe,
that they can't run Dasa in their theatres beyond 24th, July, 2008,
as they want to screen Kuselan & hence, look for other smaller
screens, if at all they are available and if the producers want to
cash in on those people who couldn't get Kuselan tickets. But, even
that scenario may not materialise, simply because, as Sivaji has
shown the way & Dasa tried to follow but couldn't, Kuselan will
bombard in a MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SCREENS in All Centres so that nobody
can go back disappointed without tickets. Therefore, Dasa will be
LEFT IN THE LURCH & Ex-Oscar, who was all along hellbent on
trying to show Thalaivar & Sivaji as inferior to him & his movie,
will bite the dust.

I think the advance booking of Kuselan is likely to commence on 20th
July, 2008, in Chennai (if it releases on 25th July). Lets plan &
gear up to Welcome the Ultimate & One & Only Entertainer Of This
World, Super Star Rajinikant, acting as HIMSELF, in the Movie
Kuselan & make it the biggest hit - even bigger than Sivaji.

A must read article for every Rajini fan

Friends,

Some of our members feel that we should not talk about other actors
& their movies in a negative way. They also quote Super Star's
comments about the movie which has come in some websites.

I humbly submit my response to the above memebers and also for the
benefit of ALL people.

I am also an admirer of Mr. Kamal Hassan, the actor. I feel he is
one of the finest actors & perfectionist to the core. There can be
no second opinions about this.

Having said this, I don't find anything wrong in criticising his
movies or his acting style in a particular movie. In addition, if
he has taken on other roles like story, scren-play, dialogues &
direction, there is nothing wrong in opining about the same too.

Some may ask why should we do that in a Rajini forum? My couter-
question is, why not here in Rajinifans' forum which allows negative
remarks about even Rajini or his movies or his political stance &
fans' reactions to it - whether they agree to it or not, isn't it?
I myself wrote here, after seeing Sivaji on the first day
that "Style over Substance", for which many people criticised me.
But, this forum allowed that comment of mine. When this forum
allows criticisms of our very own Thalaivar & his movies & politics,
why not talk about his professional rival in a very decent & matured
way?

My request to all of you is, in our eagerness to maintain healthy &
professional discussions on Rajini & related matters, let us not be
over-zealous in trying to avoid discussions about his competitor's
movies. After all, let us not forget, Dasa has been projected all
along as a competing movie for Sivaji, both by its producer as well
as the media. Whether people here like it or not, in recent days
the whole world has been discussing only about Dasa & how better or
equal or worse it is as acompared to Sivaji in both content &
collections. By not discussing about this openly, we alone will be
the losers. Moreover, based on such posts from different members,
some of you may get some new points which can be used to counter the
arguments of other actor's fans - either in some community or blog
or even in person or over phone.

So, Friends, once again I want to reiterate that please don't be
defensive about discussing negative points of competitor's movies
here because in a professional rivalry winning & losing MATTERS & by
watching the other competitor's mistakes we can gain knowledge as to
what to do & more importanatly WHAT NOT TO DO in order to avoid
debacles at the Box Office. I am sure this is what Thalaivar has
been doing & I, as a Thalaivar fan, does NOT REGRET in bashing or
passing negative comments about a movie. All said and done, as long
as we don't use unparliamentary language & get too personal, we
should not get worked up with this.

I reiterate, I will continue to pass my FRANK COMMENT on Rajini's or
other actors' movies, as I see it. After all, its my personal
opinion & I have the right to express the same & I don't want to be
hypocritical by keeping quiet or praising a movie when, in fact, I
don't like it, for whatever reasons.

If I have hurt anybody's feelings, it is purely inadvertant &
definitely NOT intentional. Thats why, I have given the "Statutory
Warning" also at the beginning of the posting itself.

kollywood pecking order after Dasa

Friends,

Though Kamal fans may not like this news, "market" is non-sentimental.

While Kamal fans are under an illusion that their actor is better than Thalaivar Rajini, "The Hindu" says Kamal is not only lagging behind Rajini in terms of his fees but he is at No. 3 position and not even next to Rajini. Actors' fees is something which is determined directly in proportion to their market standing. This
ranking is based on Kamal's fee for Dasa & Ra

Pl go thru the latest CinePlus supplement of The Hindu (Friday, the 13th, June) which has clearly mentioned about the fees charged by actors in Kollywood based on their interaction with Cine Personalities.

The ranking goes as follows:

No.1 undoubtedly is Superstar with Rs. 17 Crores.

At no.2, surprise of surprises, is Ajit with Rs. 10 crore for Billa 2 from Warner Bros-Oscher Studios.

No.3 is Kamal with Rs. 7 crore for Dasa, as told by Aaskar Ravi himself.

No.4 is occupied by Vijay with Rs. 5 crore (Might be coming down after two succesive flops in ATM & Kuruvi)

No. 5 is Vikram with Rs. 4 Crore (for Kanthasami, I think, by Kalaipuli Thanu)

Surya/Dhanush/ Simbu/Vishal occupy No.6 slot with Rs. 3 crore each.

No. 7 position with Rs. 1 crore is by Madavan/Sundar C/Sarathkumar.

Mind you, the above is only the fee paid to the actor. If you take Thalaivar's profit share, his total earnings from a Movie will sky-rocket. Other than Thalaivar, none of the other 'actors" has the guts to reduce their fees & get a profit share because not even one of them is confident about their movie doing well at the BO.

But, even with fee alone, these worthies could not come anywhere near to Thalaivar - the gap between Thalaivar & No. 2 is a whopping Rs. 7 crore or 70%. So, Thalaivar's earning is the total earning of Ajit & Kamal put together.

Kamal is now practically doing catching up act with Ajit. Where is the question of he being a competitor to Rajini? Those days are long gone.

Let all Kamal fans understand the reality & come to their senses before bashing Thalaivar & ridiculing him with all sorts of name-calling.

Today Kuselan official stills are released & when Kuselan releases all Dasa theatres will dump that movie & will go for screening Kuselan & kuselan will yet again prove who is Kuberan in the minds of people.
